Unsafe environment

Posted 4 years ago

Not too long after signing a lease and moving in with my roommate/friend/fellow teacher, her boyfriend began threatening and sexually harassing me. The landlords were notified several times about the harrassment. At first, (as seen in the text picture above) the landlords husband was willing to remove me from the lease and let me leave peacefully. However, Later that night I received a call from the landlord Saying she is not removing me from the lease and that I should “just stay at a friends house and avoid being home alone”. I filed a police report for the harrassment from my roommates boyfriend and I fled to safety. I hired a lawyer to help remove me from the lease which the landlords then ignored. The landlords own this townhouse and Failed several times in their tenants safety and well being. When asked to be removed from the lease again, the landlord told me she does not have the time to do that paperwork because of her pregnancy. Regardless of my safety. Instead, she asked me to enter the room of my roommates boyfriend (who has a gun) so she could speak to us all like children to confirm I will remain in an unsafe environment and lease. Terrified, I moved out the following day. I do not want this to happen to anyone else.
