1360 Niagara Street
Buffalo, NY 14213
The Mentholatum, located at 1360 Niagara Street in Buffalo, NY, is an excellent example of a historic renovation. One of the West Side’s most well-known buildings, The Mentholatum offers tenants unique amenities, modern finishes, and an opportunity to live in one of Buffalo’s actively developing areas.
My experience was great. Property manager was very helpful and friendly as I was moving to Buffalo , a completely new city for my first job post college. Really eased my concerns. Move out process was just as easy. Received pretty much all of my security deposit except for a non-refundable redecorating fee that was agreed to. Maintenance was very responsive whether it was a plumbing issue or I noticed more bugs than usual near my patio door. Only feedback is more cameras needed inside.
Have only lived there for a few months but so far so good. There was (is) a strange smell in the apartment when we moved in, not bad exactly just smells like someone burned incense to the point where it seeped into the walls. Not really much to be done with it unfortunately. Any other issues or questions have been addressed extremely promptly, we've been really happy with everyone we've worked with especially maintenance crew.
Overall it is a nice, well kept building. The only complaints I have are that the walls are thin (to the point where I can hear my neighbors water run) and that the shower water has been cold a few times. Other than that, my neighbors are nice, respectful, and have nice pets.
Love my apartment. Management on the other hand, I have not had a great experience. The support staff like maintenance and cleaning staff are great!
I have nothing but great things to say about staying at the Mentholatum. It has been a phenomenal place to live moving from Toronto to Buffalo. The apartment itself is immaculate and the staff that run the building are more than gracious in helping out and reach out within a days notice if there are any problems. I would highly recommend this property is place to stay for anybody who is looking for an apartment in Buffalo.
Literally everything at the Mentholatum is great from the view, to the parking, to the maintenance. The only downside are the VERY thin walls between apartments which compromise privacy.
Initial application and move-in processes were despicable. Leasing office agent was hardly accessible, poorly communicative, and almost never had answers/solutions. Fortunately, a new agent took over about 2 months after I moved in, and everything has been addressed perfectly since. Premises are beautiful. Area is well located close enough to downtown. Niagara St does get noisy with traffic, but you learn to tune it out.
