Generally she was a hands off landlord. She rarely stopped by. It was nice not to be continually bothered but it also took forever for little things to get fixed, if they ever got fixed. For example, our storm door broke within the first 6 months living there and she never replaced it. She increased our rent my the maximum amount every chance she got. The real reason I decided to write these reviews is because she was completely ridiculous to deal with during our move out. She kept our entire security deposit and then charged us 1300.00 more. We did not trash the house. I kept going back to the house to make sure we didn’t trash it because this is crazy. The walls were not freshly painted when we moved in and she charged us the full amount to re-paint them. She charged us for patching nail holes, we had a normal amount of pictures on the walls. We bought a house and asked to end our lease a month early. She said if we got someone in the house for that last month we wouldn’t have to pay any more. There was a time crunch which allowed her to get away with some stuff. We never did an official walk through. She did not give us a list of damages and an opportunity to fix them before she fixed them. She received a discount from the painter that she did not pass along to us. She gave us an ultimatum with the extra amount she charged us- pay me this week and I’ll end your lease a month early. While we were deciding what to do we received emails that suggested she might add more charges to the already long and unreasonable list. So we got everything in writing and paid her. It was predatory and unethical. If you rent from her, keep everything documented, follow your lease to a tee, and carefully plan out you move out.
