I rented a one bedroom apartment from...

I rented a one bedroom apartment from Rochelle Magarick and moved out as soon as my lease was up after one year. I thoroughly cleaned and mopped my apartment upon moving out and took photos showing the floors literally gleaming and she deducted $150 from my deposit claiming that the floors were not 'broom sweep clean'.

When I first moved in, she did no walk through, the kitchen sink didn't drain and she immediately claimed that I must have put something down the drain/garburator and broken it. When her plumber showed up, he said that absolutely wasn't the issue. Her response regarding repairs or inquiries is slow.

I rented an apartment from Magarick from...
I rented an apartment from Magarick from 2017 to 2019. There was no problem with the unit until I moved out. That was when Magarick took $120 from my security deposit for what I believe were largely unjustifiable reasons. (You can see the photos attached here for yourself.) As you'll see in the first two pictures, I left the apartment in clean condition. Magarick tried to deduct money for a stain in the apartment that was there when I first moved in, for a "*****" toilet that was in fact clean (third photo), and, most absurdly, for having water marks in the sink (fourth photo). I had forgotten to clean the oven — which, admittedly, was ***** — and so trying to reach a compromise, I offered to pay a $50 or even $60 deduction for this, which I felt was reasonable. Magarick refused, and continued to claim that the sink and toilet were grounds for a higher deduction. I've accepted that I'm not getting the money back, but I only wish I hadn't been paying rent to Magarick for the past two years. There are plenty of other landlords in Philadelphia with fair business practices. If you're in the market for an apartment, I would recommend you find one of them.
