This apartment and neighborhood are wond...
This apartment and neighborhood are wonderful! I would stay much longer if I could and am considering buying in the area. The schools are great, lots of access to shopping, transportation, parks, etc. The front building has two large apartments and the back building has two somewhat smaller apartments. It is well maintained and safe. Street parking in front. The landlord is very difficult to deal with. He likes to tinker at the buildings and on the grounds, especially when he isn't able to work at his regular job. It means things work well, but it also means he is ALWAYS around. He doesn't give much notice, even before beginning large projects. He will make random changes, like replacing all of the light bulbs in the apartment, without telling us. He is going deaf, so everything he says is loud/yelling. He also uses it as an excuse to pretend to not understand us, or just talks over us and lies to cover anything he doesn't want to deal with. When working in the basement, under the apartments, he will play loud music, smoke inside, and yell profanity over the phone or to people he has working with him. Multiple times, he has sent strangers without warning to do work on/in the apartment. There is no regard for the comfort or privacy or autonomy of the people who rent from him. He considers the buildings his and those of us who live here are incidental and pretty much just in his way. This is a nice place to live for a reasonable price, but dealing with this landlord is such a headache and often so disruptive to regular life, that I'm not sure if the rest of it is worth the annoyances.
