Rent is cheap, location is good, pets are allowed, and there is a monthly extermination service courtesy of the landlord, but you get what you pay for in terms of the quality of the building/apartment. For example, the facade of the building had graffiti. The lobby had a rat and smells because the trash cans are there. Neighbors can be loud, especially in the summer. It looks very creepy/scary in the hallways. The apartment unit itself has a lot of scratches, broken parts, and poor construction (e.g. sink makes loud sounds, you have to hold the toilet handle down to flush, etc).
