During the duration of our stay at the h...
During the duration of our stay at the house, we did not have many problems with Mike, other than the fact that he would drive by the house at very odd times. He has a very large truck, with a very distinctive sounding engine. We would hear him driving by the house sometimes as late as 11:30. It would be very obvious it would be him (again he has a very distinctive car) and he would slow down or sometimes stop in front of the house. That is SO CREEPY! I mean it is one thing to stop by and make sure the house is okay every now and then (like once a month maybe) but there would be periods of time where he would drive by daily with no regard to the time of day it was and would usually drive by at night. We also like on a dead end street so it's not like he was cutting through using our street or something. When we left there were a few holes in the wall and he did not have touch up paint to match the walls so he wanted a full wall that was not in direct light to be fully repainted so that the small hole could be covered up (which had already been filled in with spackle) and insisted that it must be done by a professionally company which charged a couple hundred dollars and our cleaning was "not up to his standards" which his standards were RIDICULOUS (he wanted a house that was newly built to look newly built when we left with not a speck of dust anywhere. we had mopped, vacuumed, dusted, cleaned windows, etc. before we left but he still charged a $60 cleaning fee). He often came over to the house without telling us (our lease said that he was required to give us 2 DAYS notice). We told him that we were not renewing our lease back in September and the lease was not due to end until December. We told him that he was welcome to end the lease early so that he could show the house to find a new tenant, but for a while he was showing the house with us still living in it (which we told him was fine as long as we were there in order to find someone to rent the place starting in November (if they rented it he would then end our lease). After us having to basically do his job for a while (show the house, post it on multiple sites and act as the go between communicator) he decided that he would end the lease the last day of December (which we had gotten in writing). We were very appreciative of this, but he took it as he was allowed in the house whenever he pleased WHILE WE WERE STILL PAYING FOR IT. He would show it without us there, he would come in to clean without us there, he would have people come in and do repairs without us there, all while it was still technically in our possession. He also got mad at us when we turned the power and the water off when we left. I guess he just assumed we were basically going to allow him live in the house while we paid his rent (which is very high for the size of the house compared to many other places the same size in the area), water, power, and gas bill? Then he was looking for a third toilet paper holder (there were three bathrooms but he only provided 2 toilet paper holders which we thought was weird so we went and bought a third one) and we explained to him that we had bought the third one and he threw a fit explaining that he "had the paperwork for it" but never would show it to us.. and we were also able to go to the store we bought it from and see that they were still selling it. Anyways we got SO mad at us over that (which we ended up giving it to him anyways because we were tired of dealing with him) and he continued to throw a fit over it and even tried telling us that we now had to pay December rent (which we had in writing where all parties agreed that we did not). Anyways, he decided that it would be a good idea to return what was left of the deposit to one of our places of work! He drove up and was very aggressive when giving us our mail and deposit and evel left without his garage door opener and final key to the house. So he had to turn around and he slammed on his breaks so hard to make a squealing sound (he had also been parked in the middle of the business so that customers could not get in) and he took the keys and threw his truck in reverse and took off making his car squeal again. His behavior at this place of work was SO BAD that the head manager went up to the renter throwing a fit that someone would come in and act like that (Mike, not the tennet). He was not even supposed to come to the place of work. We had requested that it be mailed to our new address, which he took as an invitation TO GO FIND OUR NEW HOUSE AND DRIVE PAST IT TO CHECK IT OUT. That is BEYOND inappropriate. He then would ask us all of these questions about our new house that made us very uncomfortable (remember this guy is 40 years older than us) . Overall, I WOULD NOT rent from him again due to all of the issues that we had dealing with him and his anger problems.
