DO NOT RENT FROM THIS SCAM ARTIST. She lies and "prefers" you pay all in cash. She isn't supposed to rent in one of her HOA homes and still does secretly and when you move out she'll say you left the place a complete mess even if you scrubbed it top to bottom just so she can keep your deposit. She doesn't respect that it's your space for the year you rent it and will try to drop by as much as possible. She wont let you put that the money is for rent on Venmo for a record of payment. Also she starts showing your place 2 months before the move out date so you'll have a bunch of random people coming in 2 MONTHS before. 1 Month before I understand but 2!? Just stay away.

Karen is shady and scummy and scammed us out of our deposit and claimed we owed her more in the end. She is unreasonable,makes inappropriate political/racist/sexist comments,and is very harassing. She also has a criminal record. I would not recommend anyone rent from her as she has horrible business practices and is simply disrespectful.

If you see a listing from "Kari" with a phone number ending in 9860, it's Karen. She is probably trying to distance herself from all the negative reviews of her online, plus her extensive criminal record. Beware! All the reviews here are true. She is a dishonest, scheming slum lord.

Karen is a bad person and her properties suck. Her rentals are the very definition of "landlord specials" with old appliances, no modern amenities, old carpet, and ugly gloss white paint sloppily applied all over everything including cabinet hardware. She is slow to respond to maintenance requests, all of which are completed in a half-assed fashion, due to no fault of the maintenance man, but because Karen is extremely cheap and lazy. Check out her record on IA courts online - funny that with her several theft and ***** charges, and long history of being sued in small claims court, she wouldn't even pass a background check to rent her own properties. The clause in her lease addendum stating that she will subtract the cost of carpet cleaning from your deposit is flat out illegal - see Walton v. Gaffey. Do not rent from this racist toad and if you do, don't let her bully you, because she will try to and she is used to getting her way.

Do NOT rent from Karen. She is a lousy person and an even worse landlord. She is a thief, she breaks laws that are in place to protect tenants, and she is a liar.

If you’re considering moving into a rental property that Karen Deters own, DON’T. We had many issues which we ended up having to take care of on our own, but the main thing we want to share in 1000 characters is the amount of money she conned us out of. Make sure you keep a copy of your original signed lease, because she brought over an altered copy near our move out time with things that had not been on the original lease in an attempt to charge us more. We left the home in immaculate condition & took great care of it while we lived there. However, when we received what we thought would be most of our $2000 deposit back, it was a letter full of false claims as to why we got NO deposit & actually “owed” her over $1500 more. In the letter, it stated that the money we “owed” her was not worth her time or going through collections, so she “wished us well”. Complete scam & looks like she’s done it to others.
