The apartment itself is beautiful and spacious. If I could transplant that apartment to a different location with different neighbors, I would live there again.
There is a constant rotating cockroach infestation in this building. If you exterminate, the cockroaches move to your neighbors' houses until it's safe for them to return. Property management refuses to fumigate all of the apartments at the same time, so the cockroach infestation has been a problem for years. I kept my apartment spotless, but I grew accustomed to seeing cockroaches scurrying across the kitchen counter or lurking in the office supplies.
The parking situation is a complete nightmare. You get one off-street parking spot, and it is situated in front of a ditch that homeless people and drug addicts walk along. Strange people (most looked high) were constantly climbing the fence in front of the ditch to walk past our cars. Good luck in finding any spots at all if you come home after 7:00pm on a weekday or if you ever leave on a Sunday. There are often people double-parking with their emergency lights flashing because there are literally not enough parking spots within a square mile for all of the cars. If you get "lucky" enough to find a spot on the part of Adobe Falls Rd. that runs parallel to Waring, you'd better hope you're also lucky enough to not have your window smashed in and your car robbed, which was an almost weekly occurrence.
The police are constantly busting people at the Rodeway Inn, which was terrifying at times. I wasn't allowed to go outside of my apartment for 4 hours one morning because the police had cordoned off the entire hotel and the street in front of it (the only way in or out of this apartment).
There is a washer/dryer, but the dryer doesn't vent outside; it vents into a water-filled bucket. That is a HUGE problem in this unit because every time you run the dryer on the lowest setting, the apartment fills up with humidity and condensation. I opened all of the windows and doors, and the condensation would still run down the walls. All of the printed art I hung on the walls was completely warped and ruined by the time I moved out. I bought a brand new projector, and it broke from water damage within a month. The cockroaches, however, loved the condensation. They liked to hang around the dryer's water-filled bucket to either drink the water or eat the lint.
One of the tenants of this building abuses her child, abuses her dog, has constant domestic disturbances with her boyfriend, and throws her cigarette ***** on other people's porches. She is constantly screaming at the top of her lungs, so it was really stressful and horrible to live under her. The police were constantly coming to her door because she would be screaming, breaking furniture, and throwing things outside of her apartment in a fit of rage.
The landlord was also terrible. She never returned my calls after I complained about the neighbor, she stole part of my security deposit and forced me to take her to court (I won it back), and she was completely unhelpful with the neighbor situation.
