Nora Brink, owner of Distinct Property M...
Nora Brink, owner of Distinct Property Management, is reported to the California Bureau of Real Estate for business fraud, oppression, and retaliation. The agent Nora Brink advertised a 2br condo as 3br townhouse, to maximize rent at $4k/mo., instead of the average $2,700/mo at this location. When Nora Brink received notification from the County about the reported violations, she did not offer to correct them or reduce rent accordingly. She kept collecting rents for the illegal bedroom, and she retaliated with an ultimatum to vacate or pay penalties. In addition, Nora Brink advertised the square footage incorrectly to claim an extra $420 on the monthly rent. She misrepresented the parking, as well as the HOA rules at lease signature, preventing the tenant from sharing rent with roommates, unlike it was agreed on the lease. Nora Brink again did not offer any parking exemption or compensation for the damage. It took 2 notices from the County, and 2 letters from the tenant's lawyer to finally get the owners aware of Nora Brink's fraud activity that's involving their property. The owners immediately offered rent reduction and flexible lease termination to the tenant. The owners do not plan on doing business with Nora Brink in the future.

Multiple tenants who live in the same building are having issues with Nora Brink, owner of Distinct Property Management Inc. Since Nora Brink started managing the complex, all residents have been dealing with inconsistent rent increase. For example, some residents got their rent increased by 200% after the first year, so the single tenant who signed for a 1br condo at $1,500, got her rent increased to $3k/mo. In comparison, we got our rent increased by $150 - and we live on the same floor! We have seen the agent, Nora Brink, harassing another tenant. She forced him to move out using the same rent increase method, while the tenant was very quiet and always paid rent on time. Overall, Nora Brink treats her tenants very poorly. She claims to manage $9M of annual rental income, but she constantly breaks the law and retaliates when her business is reported. We reported her business to the tenants rights association in Santa Cruz, immediately after she increased our rent a lot more than our neighbors. We do not recommend this agency.
