We tried to get security deposit by contacting Robert Cavanaugh for 6 months with no response. No communication was made to tenants about any problems with how the apartment was left when lease ended. Only after our lawyer sent a demand letter to Robert Cavanaugh did we get emailed a balance sheet from Robert Cavanaugh stating many charges against the security deposit. We have disputed many of the allegations, and still 7 months from lease end, no part of the security deposit has been returned. The lease agreement states that the security deposit funds shall be returned to tenants within 45 days of lease ending.
Charlie overall is not a bad landlord but did not have a lot of contact with him. The biggest issue was we had someone drop out and were not able to find a subletter. However they did not charge us more which would be considered charitable if it were not or everything else. When we moved in there were no outlet covers, the house was filthy and furniture was missing. There was also a huge pile of garbage in the backyard. Robert was the property manager and was completely unresponsive. Charlie eventually replaced him but really just referred out to be fair very difficult roommate to someone named Cory who would then just report to Robert. For a while was not allowed to park in the driveway because the handyman needed to use it? There were bees nests in the summer in the front of the house. 99 Chapin is really a beautiful hosue with nice porches so it is a shame about the state it is kept in. This is of course also the fault of students but as an organization Bingo Rento really does not invest anytime into the property. The price is good but the stress I think makes it not worth renting for students
