Within the first few months I was accused of stealing the landlord's plants. The landlord lives above me. This was my first experience having an in-house landlord. In addition, the way I have two other roommate who often bring visitors over, I am not allowed to put a lock on my door. Also, there have been several times in which I have heard the landlord and his wife fighting and screaming at each other. The walls are very thin. However, the icing on the cake, was in February, when the landlord had not ice the area next to the garage, and I fell and got a black eye because there was no salt on the ground. I am also told that I am not allowed to leave any plants on the front porch even though it is not in my contract. He has accused me of threatening him and intimidating him. This landlord is not only not friendly, but also incredibly rude when it comes to any issues concerning the outside of the apartment. Even though he is aware that he is sharing a building I am told that the only concern of mine should be whatever is inside of the apartment. That said, if that is the case, I should be allowed to put a lock on my door for my own safety. However that is in the contract that it is not allowed. Do not live here; avoid at all costs. There is no security deposit, but there is an admin fee that you do not get back, and you are not even allowed to put things on the wall, even though you won't be getting the admin fee back. This negates the need for an admin fee to even be collected. If you choose to live here make sure you are within your rights legally, before you do anything in this building. Also, good luck trying to sublet as you will need to get the approval of the other two roommates for whoever potentially run to your room, which would be near impossible.
