A most Harrowing experience.

I have never in my life experienced such a harrowing ordeal renting and living anywhere. This Landlord was an absolute nightmare to deal with. A spiteful, nasty, and presumptuous women. Not only did my family have to contend with this women's attitude but the apartment its self was a disgrace. No working smoke detectors in the building and she would not replace our apartment door which was paper thin plywood. The main door of the apartment was frequently broken and we had no doorbell. The landlord would not provide us with a doorbell. From my understanding, this is against the law. We came home more than once and the front door was wide open and wouldn't close. They accused the tenants of slamming it too hard. They even made the tenants salt and remove snow. We were told if we didn't remove snow and put salt down we would be evicted. We would have left sooner but were unable to move due to needing to keep our child with an IEP in the same School district. The apartment also had a major roach infestation. When we asked about extermination her reply was "Your responsible." and "We never had this problem before." Everything in the bathroom was broken or rusted. Toliet, medicine cabinet, and sink. The toilet was so rusted when it was taken from the base our bathroom looked like it had feces all over it. The washing machine agitator would frequently pop off and we where accused of overloading it. The majority of the outlets in our apartment didn't work and the hardwood floors were warped in the master bedroom. My kid's room stayed cold due to a barely working floorboard heater. The walls were wafer thin as well. You could hear a whole conversation going on next door. The apartment was a mess but we had to be moved in fast and where under the impression things would be fixed and that didn't materialize. Everything was fine between us and the Landlord for a few months and then out of the blue, the Landlord sent my husband a nasty worded text message accusing us of using a broken washing machine and leaving the utility sink full of water. When in actuality, the Landlord and property manager had failed to properly drain the sink after initially coming to access it for repairs. The utility sink was left full of water for almost 2 weeks and the whole building stank due to the fetid water. After a reply text message between us, everything rolled down hill. The landlord became petty and would frequently accuse and harass my family about things and conditions on the property. She even took things from the backyard that belonged to former tenants and stuck them inside of my families storage. It's my belief, She bad mouthed us to our upstairs neighbors and caused them to stop speaking to us as well. They where friendly and shortly after us speaking with her, they became unfriendly. This Landlord would rarely visit the property but would rely on "Bad" second had information from her stubbly little henchman property manager. Instead of questions we always got unexpected nastygrams. We paid our rent on time and sometimes two months in advance! Everything came to a head over a plumbing situation and we agreed to pay for what we felt we were responsible for. The landlord had additional work done due to the plumbers getting over on her and attempted to charge us for it! She took us to court to start an eviction proceeding over ONE month's late rent and damages to the rental property. My husband and this woman came to an agreement that she would drop the court case and we would pay a certain amount then leave within 30 days. She didn't drop the court case and went behind my husbands back to the scheduled court appearance. The Judge STILL FOUND IN OUR FAVOR. Just to further underscore how nasty this Landlord is, Our fridge stopped working within 6 days of our move out date even though it had been fixed only 2 weeks before. The landlord ignored our repeated calls about the broken fridge. So we went 6 days without a working fridge until the day we moved out. Our current landlord felt so bad for us after we explained our ordeal with this women, she rented to us right away. God love you if you ever come across or rent from this Landlord at 120 Upland Terrace!
